Richard graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1986 with a bachelor's in economics and a bachelor's in engineering. He then worked in international business for five years, covering Asia and Latin America. Richard attended law school at Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1994. After law school, Richard was a management consultant, helped run an Internet startup, and worked for a family foundation in Boston. Richard joined the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 2003 as director of the Career Development Office and is currently the executive director of the Center for Leadership. He is also a First-Year Project faculty advisor at Tuck and is the faculty director of the Paganucci Fellows Program at Dartmouth.
